Some of the questions that were raised in the panel was: (Asked by a man) how does this particular play classify as a feminist play? Whose trial is it anyway? The importance of gender in this particular time. The point of view of this story, what tone of voice could one best describe the men in the story, questioning the title of the play, the death of who? Minnie or John, the approval of the women’s decision to withhold evidence, justice within the premise of the play, the characteristics of John Wright, the case of empathy, impartiality, and social order in America Within my group mostly everyone agreed that justice was not served and that the women should have turned in the evidence, but the lack of awareness of time and place was what made me disagree with my group, focusing on the pure evidence is not enough to convict someone in my opinion. The arguments that were raised in the jury to me was three-dimensional and really added some light to the questions I have thought of while reading the play. Then again, the panel probably read the book and play.
